Your Language….God's Gift

    Sunday morning our pastor spoke on the languages of love that God has blessed each of us with, to be used for the glory and honor of the Father and to spread the good news of the gospel. I had never heard the sermon in Acts 2, brought forth in this manner. We are familiar with the story of the disciples in the upper room waiting for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. They were all filled and spoke in the native tongues of those who stood around and observed this phenomenal experience.

    Pastor Monte was not minimizing the wonderful experience of receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but God gave him a very unique new approach to this story, that we are all given a divine language or gift and it should be used fluently to bring the gospel to the world.

    As you use this language it will become a part of your everyday life. It will flow from you to those that desperately need to hear and in return, respond to your language. It could be corresponding by letter or phone; it could be the language of music; it could be the language of giving of your resources or just the outpouring of your gentle love; it could be the language of your compassionate eyes meeting another's eyes and not even opening your mouth. We could go on and on but just know that each of us has a language, and God wants us to practice this language and get really good at it.

    How do we get good at it? There was an old saying that my dear mother used frequently when she was teaching me something that she felt was important for my growth....“Practice makes perfect”! God has called us to make our creativity and resources available to this hurting world. Find your language, develop it, and with it bless all those who need you!
